Game will be titled Pioneer PureVision Las Vegas Bowl for third straight season.

LAS VEGAS - Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. has renewed its deal to serve as title sponsor of the Pioneer PureVision Las Vegas Bowl for the third consecutive year, bowl executive director Tina Kunzer-Murphy and Pioneer senior vice president of marketing Russell Johnston announced August 31.

The 15th edition of the Pioneer PureVision Las Vegas Bowl, which is an ESPN Regional Television (ERT) owned-and-operated event, will be played Thursday, Dec. 21, beginning at 5 p.m. PST at Sam Boyd Stadium. The game will once again be shown nationally on ESPN and ESPNHD. Tickets for the bowl go on sale this Friday.

''We are ecstatic to announce that Pioneer will continue as the title sponsor for the Pioneer PureVision Las Vegas Bowl,'' Kunzer-Murpy said. ''They are the ideal partner as we move to the next level in the world of college bowl games.''

The Pioneer PureVision Las Vegas Bowl, which increases its payout to $1 million per team this season, for the first time will feature the champion or first selection from the Mountain West Conference vs. the fourth-place team from the Pacific-10 Conference. Last year's game drew both record attendance and television ratings as California defeated BYU in a 35-28 thriller.

''Our relationship with the bowl and its staff along with the city of Las Vegas has simply been tremendous,'' said Johnston. ''This sponsorship continues to be a key element of Pioneer's promotion of our PureVision high definition plasma displays and we are proud to be heading into our third year associated with such a great event.''

Pioneer Electronics is a global leader in digital entertainment products for home, car and business use. The company is the leading manufacturer of plasma televisions and monitors, DVD players and DVD recorders, A/V receivers, CD players and CD recorders, speakers and other audio and video accessories.
