Fresno State Accepts Bid To 2013 Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl

Freshly crowned Mountain West Champion Fresno State accepted a bid to the 2013 Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl following the Bulldogs’ 24-17 victory over Utah State late Saturday night.

In winning the inaugural Mountain West Championship Game at Bulldog Stadium, Fresno State improved its record to 11-1 on the season and will now return to this city for the first time since playing Utah in the 1999 Las Vegas Bowl.

Fresno State (No. 23 BCS) will take on a team from the Pac-12 Conference in this year’s game, which will be played Saturday, Dec. 21, at 12:30 p.m. PT and televised by ABC. The complete matchup will be announced Sunday evening.

Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl Executive Director Dan Hanneke extended the invitation to head coach Tim DeRuyter and his squad on the field following their win over the Aggies.

“We congratulate Coach DeRuyter and his players on earning the inaugural conference championship,” Hanneke said. “Fresno State won its way into our bowl game and our Executive Committee couldn’t be happier about it. We can’t wait for the Red Wave to hit the World Famous Las Vegas Strip in just two short weeks.”

Tickets for the Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl ($35, $45, $65, $110) are available by calling (702) 739-3267.
